What is a Chiropractic Internist?

Chiropractic Internists are chiropractors that have undergone a lengthy training program in internal diagnosis and natural treatments. These doctors as a group have a special interest in helping people avoid the chronic disorders that are increasing today at an alarming rate. Problems like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel disease and other digestive disorders which can be prevented by lifestyle changes if caught early enough. Chiropractic Internists are uniquely trained to detect the underlying disorders/imbalances that lead to these problems by investigating possible nutritional deficiencies, food sensitivities, bacterial, yeast or parasite problems in the gut, genetic factors, heavy metal body burden, hormonal imbalances, lifestyle habits, etc. Chiropractic Internists use conventional medical diagnostic tests, specialized functional testing, and cutting edge integrative medicine diagnostic evaluations. These chiropractors routinely employ methods such as blood laboratory studies, urinalyses, vascular doppler ultrasound, spirometry, DEXA bone density testing, IgG food allergy testing, comprehensive gastrointestinal stool analyses, heavy metal testing, diagnostic imaging to include x-ray, CT, MRI, and many other diagnostic tools. Chiropractic Internists use therapeutic methods which emphasize minimally invasive approaches and minimize risk to the patient. These doctors use treatments such as clinical nutrition, dietary changes, exercise, vitamin and mineral supplementation, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, acupuncture, natural hormone replacement, and pharmacologic counseling. Many conditions and disease states can be resolved by utilizing these natural methods.

Qualifications:  A DABCI degree (Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists) requires doctors to attend and complete a 300 hour post doctorate course, pass a national certification examination and requires continuing education in advanced coursework each year. The DABCI program is recognized by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and certified by the American board of Chiropractic Internists (ABCI).

This is the first year I have not had to use crutches to get around on. Thanks to Dr. Welch's nutritional protocols and the adjustments my gout is totally gone and I have even started running again!
